SUISUN CITY, Calif. -- A 42-year-old father is in stable condition at Northbay Medical Center after his 19-year-old son stabbed him multiple times Saturday night police said Sunday morning.

The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Cohn Court, Suisun City police said.

When officers arrived Erik Carter was suffering from multiple stab wounds and family members were rendering first aid, according to police. The Suisun City Fire Department and a Medic Ambulance triaged Erik and he was transported to the medical center for further treatment.

The father and son were visiting family who live in Cohn Court and they began arguing inside the home when Erik's son Emmanuel drew a knife, police said.

The two men took their argument into the garage and the dispute became physical at which time Emmanuel Carter stabbed his father and fled in a Jeep Cherokee, police said.

Police issued a statewide alert for Emmanuel.

About midnight officers responded to a call of a person knocking on the lobby door of the police station. When they arrived they found Emmanuel.

Officers detained him without incident and booked him into the Solano County Jail. Officers located the Jeep Cherokee a short distance from the station and are holding it for evidence.

Suisun City police are asking anyone with information about the case to call police at (707) 421-7373.
