Kidnapped baby found safe in Newark
A baby that was kidnapped in Sunnyvale was found safe in Newark Saturday night.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (KGO) -- A young East Bay mother is in custody this morning after police say she kidnapped her baby boy following visitation.

Police say 16-month-old Trinnian Gonzalez was taken from his Sunnyvale home by his mother, 20-year-old Christina Rodriguez Saturday afternoon.

ABC7 News was there when the boy's father, Edwin Gonzalez, found out late Saturday night that his son was safe.

"They said that they found my son in Newark. And that's so far away, that's what I was afraid of, that they were going to leave Sunnyvale and go someplace else. I am so grateful that they found him. You don't know how happy I am," said Edwin Gonzalez, father.

Rodriguez does not have custody of her son. Gonzalez told us one of the mother's friends shoved a family member out of the way to help her take the baby.

Trinnian was found in good health.
