Santa Clara PD investigating anti-gay message as possible hate crime
Santa Clara police are investigating a car vandalism, but not because of something that was broken, but because of what was left behind.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- Santa Clara police are investigating a car vandalism, but not because of something that was broken, but because of what was left behind.

On Monday morning, David Quintana-Mueting found hateful, anti-gay words scrawled on his windshield. At first, he thought it was a joke.

"I felt like the world was caving in on me. I felt like everyone was out to attack me," said Quintana.

He anti-gays messages written on a book, a DVD and a note, all in the same handwriting.

The note said; "Gays and smokers get out of the complex. Being gay and smoking is bad for you. Do what God wants."

Quintana-Mueting and his landlord called Santa Clara police, who are currently investigating this as a hate crime.

He says after sharing his experience on Facebook, he gotten support from around the country.

"It was comforting," he said.

While he's still shaken by the ordeal, he says he and his husband will not give in to the bully who targeted them.

"I'm not going to allow this type of hatred, this type of discrimination, this type of bigotry push me away," he said.

Quintana-Mueting says his landlord very supportive and installing security cameras over the weekend.
