Police: Man Shoots Daughter, 6 Grandchildren in Murder-Suicide

A Florida man shot his daughter, then killed his six grandchildren today before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

Police identified the shooter as Don Spirit, but gave no other details.

Police said they received a call from the home at about 4 p.m., but no one was alive when they arrived.

The incident took place in the town of Bell in Gilchrist County.

Bell has a population of about 350 people and is located some 30 miles west of Gainesville.
