San Francisco police investigating homicide in SoMa apartment

SAN FRANCISCO -- One person was shot and killed in an apartment in San Francisco's South of Market area early Saturday morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of a shooting at an apartment building in the 900 block of Mission Street and found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside an apartment, according to San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.

Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The suspect in this incident was located at the scene, arrested and booked into San Francisco County jail. He is identified as San Francisco resident Amisi Sudi Kachepa, 68. Kachepa was booked into county jail on a homicide charge.
