San Francisco public defender gives update on police shooting
Public defender Jeff Adachi is asking San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon to drop all charges against a man who was shot and seriously wounded by police inside his own home.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Public defender Jeff Adachi is asking San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon to drop all charges against a man who was shot and seriously wounded by police inside his own home.

Adachi requested the charges against Sean Moore be dropped after a Superior Court judge yesterday dismissed all but two charges against the 42-year-old man after police shot him at his home in the Taraval District.

He was charged with assault on a peace officer, battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, criminal threats and contempt of a court order. His bail was set at $2 million.

The two charges the judge did not dismiss were battery causing injury, as one officer was hurt in the scuffle, and violating a restraining order protecting the neighbor.

Two officers responded to a 911 call from a neighbor who said Moore was acting agitated. Officers saw him on the front steps of his home and told him to come down, but Moore refused. A verbal altercation continued, and officers eventually rushed him at the top of the stairs, ultimately shooting him several times.

The incident was recorded on body cam video. Adachi released the video to reporters at a press conference later, prompting SFPD Chief Toney Chaplin to hold his own news conference rebutting Adachi's charges that the officer used excessive force when he opened fire.
