Richmond police searching for suspect accused of fatally shooting man

RICHMOND, Calif. -- Police are searching for a suspect accused of fatally shooting a young man on West Macdonald Avenue in Richmond Thursday night.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. after a ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the area.

On arrival they found a young male victim with multiple gunshots to the upper torso. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

The victim is being identified only as a young black male who was on foot at the time of the shooting.

The suspect remains at large, according to police, and detectives are investigating the homicide.
