Search for suspect after elderly woman raped inside Coney Island home

CONEY ISLAND -- Police are searching for a man who raped an elderly woman inside her Brooklyn home.

The 82-year-old woman was sweeping outside in front of her home in Coney Island at around 1:30 Monday morning, when the suspect snuck inside her home.

When the woman walked in her bedroom the suspect jumped out and demanded money. The woman then told the suspect that she had no money. The woman then told the suspect she had no money, and the man stayed inside her home for another three hours or so. That is when police say he raped her, stole and umbrella and a bag of clothing and ran out of her home.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital for evaluation.

The suspect was wearing a white shirt with writing, gray sweatpants and Converse sneakers with white shoestrings. Police are concerned about where he is, and whether he is preying on any other victims.
