SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Police are investigating a break-in at the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in San Francisco.

The incident happened sometime before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the consulate on Columbus Avenue between Francisco and Jones streets.

Officers spotted a broken window and found a trespasser sleeping inside the building.

"He came in, he broke a window and then he went to the second floor, and perhaps because of the drunk influence he was just wandering on the second floor, on the third floor and then finally he went to one particular room and locked himself in that room," Bernard Loesi, a consulate spokesperson said.

The man was booked on suspicion of vandalism and trespassing.

He was identified as 26-year old Tobias Spencer of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Police say he didn't steal anything, so they're not sure why he broke into the consulate.
