San Francisco police investigating after man found fatally shot near Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was found fatally shot in a southeastern part of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded at 2:16 p.m. to a report from a passerby of someone slumped over in the area of Lincoln Way and Third Avenue.

They arrived and found the victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as 33-year-old Ronald Hanson, had been shot with some sort of firearm, according to police.

Hanson, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at the scene and the medical examiner's office determined the case was a homicide, police said.
