Shooting prompts school lock down near Sacramento

CARMICHAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- An unidentified woman has been shot on a busy road in Carmichael, near Sacramento, prompting Sheriff's deputies to lock down a nearby elementary school.

Authorities say it is an active shooter situation and they do not have anyone in custody at this time.

Authorities have not said where the woman was when she was shot or released her condition, but did say that Charles Peck Elementary School has been locked down as precaution.

There are no other reports of injuries at this time.

Madison Avenue is closed at Rutland Drive. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area.
