Standoff ends peacefully between SJPD and armed man
A standoff ended early Friday morning between San Jose police and an armed man inside a home near downtown.

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- A standoff ended early Friday morning between San Jose police and an armed man inside a home near downtown.

The standoff began around 6 p.m. Friday. Police first went to the home after a woman claimed the suspect threatened her with a gun. The standoff forced police to evacuate nearby homes around North 13th and East Julian Streets.

Officers spent hours urging the man to surrender. He finally did, around 4 a.m. Friday. Paramedics checked him out before officers took him to jail.
