Stanford medical student gets probation over charges of poisoning classmates

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A former Stanford medical student has been sentenced to probation instead of jail time over charges of poisoning her classmates' water bottles.

The student is accused of putting small amounts para-formaldehyde in bottles over several months.

No students were injured. The student had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
