SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A two-car collision left two pedestrians injured in San Jose Saturday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.

Around 1:45 p.m., two cars collided into each other and one of the vehicles struck two pedestrians in the area of Mt. Vista Drive and South White Road, San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said.

The suspect tried to flee the scene but was taken into custody by police, Randol said.

Two adults, one suffering injuries considered life-threatening, were transported to a hospital, she said.

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the collisions, according to Randol.

The San Jose Police Department's traffic investigations unit is at the scene conducting an investigation.
