Suspect arrested after high-speed chase in Oakland
A residential burglary suspect took Oakland police on high-speed chase through city streets before getting arrested at the Fruitvale BART Station Monday afternoon.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A residential burglary suspect took Oakland police on high-speed pursuit through city streets Monday afternoon.

The chase started after police received a report of a home burglary in progress at International Boulevard and Seminary Avenue.

A witness called police with a license number after spotting the suspect and red MINI Cooper. Then, the car was spotted by Oakland police officers in plain clothes a short time later.

The red MINI Cooper nearly collided with other cars several times before it arrived at the Fruitvale BART Station where the suspect parked under a tree. Then, he then got out of the car and tried to hide in the parking lot behind cars, but police quickly spotted him and made their arrest.

Police brought the handcuffed suspect out on the street and had him stand there for a field show, so the witness could identify him.

The witness was kept in a police vehicle with darkened windows a short distance away.

It's unclear at this time if the suspect was wanted in any other crimes.

The red MINI Cooper was put on a flatbed truck and taken away.
