LOS ANGELES -- LAPD detectives detained a man believed to have information in the murder of Sylmar Army veteran Francisco Garcia Tuesday afternoon, and later booked him on a charge of murder, the LAPD told Eyewitness News Tuesday night.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Sylmar resident Vincent Estrada. He was booked for murder and held on $1 million bail at the Van Nuys Jail.

Francisco Garcia, 21, was fatally shot Sunday, Nov. 9, after a dispute broke out during a party near his girlfriend's home near Dronfield Avenue and Astoria Street around 2 a.m.

Estrada was stopped as he was driving with his parents in Sylmar, according to police. He was initially detained as a person of interest in the murder.

Garcia had returned home from a tour of duty in Afghanistan four months ago.
