Sen. Ted Cruz finished third in the New Hampshire primary, according to the Associated Press.

With 94 percent of New Hampshire precincts reporting, the Texas senator secured about 12 percent of the vote.

Last night, Cruz was locked in a battle with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for the No. 3 spot. Because the race was so close, ABC News did not project a winner for third place in last night's primary.

Trump won New Hampshire, collecting 35 percent of the vote. Ohio Gov. John Kasich finished a strong second.

Cruz was the big winner in the Iowa caucuses.
