Dramatic video shows ATM explode in masked man's face

DARWIN, Australia -- Police in Australia are looking for a man who nearly blew himself up trying to rob an ATM.

Police say the man can be seen on video pouring a flammable liquid on the ATM and then lighting an explosive and inserting it into the ATM. The resulting blast was so powerful it knocked the man off his feet and right out of his sandals. He fled barefoot and burned.

"This behavior is extremely dangerous and there is absolutely no reward. This person is lucky to have escaped serious injury," said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Day.

Police haven't been able to identify the man on video because he was wearing a t-shirt over his face.

He left behind a mangled ATM and all the money inside it.
