Wife accused of shooting at husband over chores
A woman is accused of firing a gun while arguing with her husband of more than 30 years because he wasn't helping around the house.

A Washington woman is being held on $250,000 bail after being accused of shooting at her husband for his inability to perform chores around the house.

Starlene Roth of Marysville, Wash. got into an argument with her husband Greg Roth on Saturday. Greg had been recently hospitalized, and Starlene was frustrated that Greg "hadn't been able to do anything around the house," KOMO reported.

Greg told investigators that Starlene became upset and threw a glass vase and broke the remote control for the TV. Greg then claims that Starlene proceeded to the bedroom to get a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun. Starlene then allegedly pointed the gun at his chest and fired, but missed. Greg says he then left he house.

Starlene is being investigated of attempted second-degree murder, according to KOMO. She only has one criminal conviction to her name for a DUI this past year.

"She's really a good person," Brian Ashbach, Starlene's attorney, told KOMO. "My early impression in the case is just that there was no intent to harm or to shoot at any particular person."

"I believe it was reflected in the (probable cause affidavit) that she was not trying to shoot her husband," he said.

Starlene told investigators that she "regret(s) what she did," according to court papers. She also added that there had been no physical violence in her household, that she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the shooting, and that she is not mentally ill. Greg declined to make comment.

"She wouldn't hurt a bug...they are very nice people. I always thought they got along great," Sherry Hill, a neighbor of the couple, told KOMO. "It's just hard to believe. They're nice people...it's sad it had to happen."

Starlene is set to make another court appearance later this month.
