FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Prosecutors have arrested and charged a woman caught on camera throwing her small dog onto the pavement in the Northern California town of Fairfield.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Solano County prosecutors on Wednesday filed a felony charge of animal cruelty and abuse against Brandi Chin.

Chin was seen throwing her pug onto a puddle in a video that went viral last month and prompted Fairfield Police and Solano County Animal Services to investigate.

Authorities say they arrested Chin in Vallejo and took possession of the dog, Benny.

The video first posted on Facebook shows Chin lugging her dog by the front leg then flinging the pug toward her boyfriend.

The dog rolls several times before her boyfriend scoops up the canine. The two then shout at each other.
