SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A passerby Thursday morning called police after seeing an unconscious woman inside a car parked off of a road in East San Jose who authorities later said had been stabbed to death, a police spokeswoman said.
"They didn't know if she was sleeping or if she was injured," San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said.
The witness notified police at 11:02 a.m. about the unidentified woman, who was inside a Honda car in a parking lot on the corner of Aborn and Kettmann Road near San Jose's Evergreen Branch library, police said.
After determining the woman was deceased, authorities at first thought she had been shot but the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office concluded she had suffered at least one stab wound, Randol said.
Police do not yet known how long the vehicle had been parked in that spot but indications are that it was there since at least Wednesday night, according to Randol.
The victim's identity has not been confirmed and there are no suspects so far in the investigation, she said.
