SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A dog seriously injured in a car accident on Highway 101 has a new chance at life.

The one-year-old hound dog mix was hit last week just south of Holly Street in San Mateo County. She was rescued and taken to the Northern Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

Doctors say Holly is doing well, but is expected to undergo surgery on Friday.

"She's just been resting and to the extent that she can healing. Those injuries are healing and she's recovering from those, but she's going to require surgery for her pelvis," Eric Barchas said.

Holly's owner has not been found and she will likely be put up for adoption.

If you would like to make a donation to help with her surgery there is a GoFundMe site set up.
