MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A rescue over the weekend is earning accolades for some North Bay firefighters.

A pit bull puppy fell 200 feet down a cliff at Rodeo Beach Sunday.

The 7-month-old dog named "Mia" was wedged between two rocks.

Firefighters found her, strapped her onto a stretcher, then slowly raised her up the cliff.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, has now given its Compassionate Fire Department Award to the Southern Marin Fire Protection District.

By the way, Mia is going to be fine.
