Cat takes a bullet for 3-year-old
A mother claims her cat took a bullet to save her 3-year-old son's life.

YORK, PA -- A mother is convinced her cat saved her 3-year-old son's life.

Last week, a stray bullet came flying in Angelica Sipe's home, WPMT-TV reports. The bullet struck her cat Opie.

"It came in the top of his head, out the bottom of his neck, and back into his shoulder and out his armpit rib area," said Sipe.

The bullet came to a stop in a pillow that was inches away from her 3-year-old son's head. Sipe is now convince Opie sensed something was about to happen and took the bullet to save her son's life.

Opie suffered some muscle damage, but the cat is otherwise okay. He did need emergency surgery, at a cost of $1,000, but Sipe says its all worth it.

"He was my son's little hero, so I need to keep him around," Sipe told WPMT-TV.

Sipe says she's now looking for a new place to live. Police are investigating, but they have not located the person who fired the bullet into the home.
