If you've ever owned a dog, at one time you probably had to subject them to the dreaded "cone of shame" as prescribed by the vet. And one photographer decided to capture all of the cuteness a sad dog can muster when completely inhibited.

Photographer Ty Foster was inspired to create the "Timeout" photo series after his father sent him a text message showing two dogs sitting in the backyard, wearing cones, after trips to the vet.

The cones, called Elizabethan collars, are meant to aid in the animal's healing process. From a dog's perspective, though, Foster believes it's more like a humiliating punishment.

"We've all experienced the emotional hardships that our animals have to endure while wearing the cone and I really wanted to showcase those trials and tribulations in this series," Foster wrote to ABC.
