A police officer adopted an adorable baby kangaroo after its mom was hit by a truck and killed in Australia.

The young joey was brought into Cue Police Station on Wednesday after being found in its dead mother's pouch, according to 9 News Australia. The kangaroo quickly found a new home when Constable Scott Mason offered to adopt the animal.

Mason and the police department took to Facebook to find suggestions for a name for the kangaroo. The officer announced in a video on Thursday that the joey would be named Cuejo.

Mason, who has a passion for animals, says he hopes to one day open a wildlife rescue centre in the small town.
