SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A Honduran woman who says she is a refugee fleeing domestic violence is now being released to her mother's custody.

Immigration reform advocates from the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco gathered to pray, prior to Wednesday's hearing at Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters.

Yeni Escobar has been held in an immigration detention facility for seven months. She claimed smugglers had kidnapped her when she was detained at the border.

She has epilepsy and her mother, a legal resident in San Francisco, wants to care for her. Escobar will be released on bond Wednesday night.

"We're very, very happy," said Lorena Melgarejo. "Tonight, they're going to eat dinner together and it's like a dream come true and god really answered our prayers."

Escobar will continue to seek asylum in the United States.

Her sister who was also picked up by immigration officers is still being held in Texas.
