SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- Dog owners have a hard enough time finding an off leash place to walk their pets.

And you may be surprised to know that restaurants are off limits for dogs in California, even though you see a lot of dog friendly places.

However, a bill in Sacramento would change all that.

It would allow dogs to dine out with their owners, but only on outdoor patios.

If the bill goes through, there would be plenty of other rules. This would include no dogs on furniture, no food storage where dogs are allowed, and waiters cannot pet the dogs.
