New poll shows Clinton has sizeable lead on Trump

WASHINGTON -- A new poll shows Hillary Clinton with a sizeable lead in the race for the White House.

On Thursday morning, Donald Trump's allies are desperately trying to get their candidate back on message.

Even with the chaos, Trump's campaign is bringing in a lot of cash from his supporters.

They're both back on the campaign trail and are trading barbs.

"Donald Trump is unqualified to be president," Clinton said.

Clinton is continuing to pound Trump on his controversial remarks regarding the parents of a fallen soldier and wanting a Purple Heart.

"Anyone who spends his time insulting our military, demeaning the service of our POWs and our fallen soldiers, insulting Gold Star families, this is not someone who understands the honor, the duty of serving America," she said.

Trump is focusing his attacks on Obama and a new Wall Street Journal investigation that alleged the administration swapped cash for Iranian hostages.

"We paid 400 million, such a bad precedent set by Obama, two more have been kidnapped," he said.

But his recollection of watching video of the event is being corrected by his own spokesperson after Trump told the audience, "I'll never forget the scene. The tape is of people taking the money off the plane. It's a military tape. It's a tape that was a perfect angle, nice and steady."

But Hope Hicks confirms to the Washington Post the tape Trump saw was actually a public one of the U.S. hostages being released in Geneva.

This comes as Trump's campaign manager acknowledges the non-endorsements of Paul Ryan and John McCain have opened up rifts.

"There's a conflict within the Trump campaign and we've sort of had a rule of not getting involved in primaries," he said.

Though Trump is not backing down from any of those controversial comments, according to the latest Fox News poll, it may be taking its toll.

Clinton is opening up a 10-point lead.

While Trump poll numbers may be bad, his fundraising numbers were good, raising $82 million in July.
