San Francisco bars hosting Democratic 2016 presidential debate

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- For anyone interested in viewing tonight's Democratic presidential debate there are several watch parties being hosted in San Francisco's Mission District.

The public is invited to join the conversation at The Chapel bar, at 777 Valencia St., starting at 5 p.m. The debate begins at 6 p.m. and live music follows at 8 p.m.

This is the first Democratic debate of the election. The debate will be moderated by CNN's Anderson Cooper, and it will feature Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Martin O'Malley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee are also expected to take part in the debate.

Drink specials at The Chapel bar include The Pantsuit and the Sidebern.

Those in search of comedic relief can also head to Skylark Bar at 3089 16th St. where comedian George Chen will be starting at 5:30 p.m.

Climate issues, racial justice, income inequality and gun control are among the issues expected to come up during tonight's debate.
