San Bruno family receives heartwarming holiday surprise

SAN BRUNO, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Bruno family got quite a holiday surprise while at a restaurant Saturday afternoon.

Dad and husband Roberto Tapiador has been overseas for nine months serving as a petty officer in the U.S. Navy. Within the last week he managed to get the clearance to come home for eight months. He says kids had no idea until he walked up to the table.

"They were shocked at first, like, 'who is this guy?' And then they try and process and say, 'ohh, it's daddy,' then the oldest one is a little bit emotional, as always,"

Tapiador goes on to say, being Filipino, he values Christmas as one of the most important days of the year, second only to his kids' birthdays.
