A stunning new report was released this week that documents the decline in the global wildlife population.

The World Wildlife Fund and the Zoological Society of London say the animal population has fallen by half in just four decades.

The report covered more than 3,000 vertebrate species including mammals, birds, reptiles and fish.

The report's authors say the declines can be stopped through more sustainable living standards, including using more renewable energy and not consuming as much.
