One of the inmates on the run after escaping from the Santa Clara County courthouse in Palo Alto earlier in November just escaped again from the CHP.

STOCKTON, Calif. (KGO) -- One of the inmates on the run after escaping from the Santa Clara County courthouse in Palo Alto earlier in November just escaped again from the CHP.

John Bivins was the passenger in an SUV officers tried to pull over on Interstate 5 Tuesday afternoon.

After a short chase, the driver was arrested at a Walmart, but Bivins jumped into the driver's seat and drove off.

One of the inmates on the run after escaping from the Santa Clara County courthouse in Palo Alto earlier in November just escaped again from the CHP.

"It's a wide scope, but we're still actively searching," said Sgt. Rich Glennon of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. "Anyone who has gone through these measures, you know, is an act of determination, an act of desperation -- fleeing from a vehicle, from law enforcement."

Bivins was driving a 1999 green Ford Explorer with the license plate number 7TYY505. If you see him please call 911 immediately.

He is facing a long prison sentence in an armed robbery case.
