Two years ago the Consumer Product Safety Commission released the first warning about Buckyballs.
The desk toy is meant as a stress reliever, but safety advocates say children were putting them in their mouths and swallowing them. The CPSC filed a lawsuit in 2012 to force the maker to stop selling them.
The company Maxfield and Oberton responded by shutting down. Regulators then sued the owner directly.
Thursday's settlement ends all legal proceedings.
Refunds could total $57 million. We have a link to a refund application here.
