Malls slammed on 2nd busiest shopping day of year
Did you get everything you wanted for Christmas? Your favorite stores are hoping your disappointment turns into their opportunity.

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- Did you get everything you wanted for Christmas? Your favorite stores are hoping your disappointment turns into their opportunity. Retailers are expecting $65 billion worth of returns and exchanges today.

Stores at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose opened early this morning. Macy's doors opened at 6 a.m., the rest of the mall at 8 a.m. This year, the day after Christmas is expected to be the second busiest shopping day of the year, right behind Super Saturday.

"Did you get everything you wanted for Christmas?" asked ABC7's Matt Keller.

"Absolutely," said Michelle O'Hara, shopper.

"Then why were you here this early in the morning?" asked Keller.

"Because you got to get extra goodies -- you're extra good. You have to get extra stuff," said O'Hara.

The number one present under the tree this year is gift cards; Americans bought $32 billion worth. And with today's big discounts your money will go further.

So what are the best deals today? Forbes.com reports the biggest bargains will be on clothes and housewares.
