People make time for turkey and shopping on Thanksgiving

Whether for a bigger TV, a new computer or the hottest toy, people in San Jose were willing to wait in line on Thanksgiving for a good deal.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Whether for a bigger TV, a new computer or the hottest toy, people in San Jose were willing to wait in line on Thanksgiving for a good deal.

Best Buy opened at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The young men who were first in line said they got there at 10 p.m. Wednesday. They put out their chairs and took turns sleeping in their car.

And they didn't even have to miss the turkey. Dinner would be waiting for them at home when they were done shopping.

Toys-R-Us also opened Thursday evening and is staying open overnight until 11 p.m. Friday.

Shoppers took full advantage.

A San Jose woman said she and her mom always buy the kids' Christmas presents on Thanksgiving -- it's a tradition. They cook and eat the turkey before hitting the stores.

She mentioned next year that they might move the Thanksgiving meal to Friday so they have more time for shopping on Thursday

Speaking of eating, Pizza Guys in San Jose is open around the clock Thursday and Friday.

They'll deliver food to shoppers waiting in line at stores.
