Santa Rosa's small business owners hoping for a successful 'Small Business Saturday' post fires

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- Santa Rosa's small business owners say Black Friday was busy and they needed it following the North Bay fires. They're hoping the streak continues with the Small Business Saturday campaign.

The holiday shopping run-around doesn't have to be hard. Having the right shoes helps.

"All of the fit specialists are really well trained and we do give each individual just the service that they need," said Wesley Methum, Fleet Feet Santa Rosa.

The specialty shoe store in Historic Downtown Santa Rosa is looking forward to Small Business Saturday when consumers shop locally.

"We love to support local businesses especially in this area after everything that we've been through," said Hannah Breall, Sonoma resident.

The last month and a half have been slow at Batcave Comics and Toys, but sales picked-up on Black Friday. A 20-percent off sale on all items helped.

"Business was actually really good and since the fires hit we kind of needed it," said shop co-owner, Mike Holbrook.

While some people are looking forward to Cyber Monday Holbrook says he doesn't sell on eBay or Amazon like other collectables vendors.

"We like our locals to be able to see it and touch it and in the case of comic books some people even like to smell them," said Holbrook with a laugh.

From specialty sneakers to the toys you wish Santa had brought you as a kid, it's all available locally.
