Batkid documentary to kick off San Jose film festival

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- This year's Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose will kick off with a familiar face on the big screen.

Tuesday night's opening event will be a showing of "Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World."

Some 25,000 people packed the streets of San Francisco in Nov. 2013 to cheer on Miles Scott -- AKA Batkid -- a 5-year-old recovering from leukemia.

He had been granted a wish to become a superhero for a day, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The documentary about Batkid had its world premiere last month.
