A Connecticut hiker says she's fortunate she escaped unharmed from an up-close and personal encounter with a pair of black bears.

Stephanie Rivkin thought she was keeping a safe distance but the bears crept closer and closer, until one of them ended up reaching out for her leg with his mouth.

"The teeth scared the hell out of me. I was thinking oh, he's going to take a whole leg muscle out in one bite and then after that, I took a good ten minutes in my car and sat there and thanked God for letting me out alive," she said.

She walked away from the encounter unharmed.

Rivkin reported the incident to the authorities who, out of concern, immediately closed the trail.
