Rather than give a mom a ticket for not having her young child in a car seat, a kind-hearted Michigan police officer instead accompanied the woman to a nearby store and purchased a safety seat for her.

Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Ben Hall was on patrol when he pulled over a driver with a small child in the car who was not in a car seat. The young mom explained that she knew her daughter should be in safety seat, but her family had fallen on hard times and she could not afford one. Rather than cite Lexi DeLorenzo for not having her daughter in the proper seat, Hall instead drove with her to a nearby Walmart and he bought a car seat using his own money.

DeLorenzo says she is trying to get by on a single, part-time income and recently lost her car, with her daughter's car seat in it. In comments on the Department of Public Safety's Facebook page, DeLorenzo thanked Hall for his kindness and says she intends to "pay it forward" as soon as she can.
