Crews save whale tangled in fishing lines off Carmel coast
A humpback whale is swimming freely off the Central California coast thanks to a specially trained team.

CARMEL, Calif. (KGO) -- A humpback whale is swimming freely off the Central California coast thanks to a specially trained team.

The whale got tangled in a crab pot system on Wednesday off the coast of Carmel. The crabbers called authorities and waited until the rescue crew arrived.

Officials say they're responding to an increased number of whale rescues because their migration period is overlapping the delayed crabbing season.
