STANFORD, Calif. (KGO) -- Stanford engineers have built and tested a building that withstood forces three times the intensity of the 1989 Loma Prieta Quake.

The mock-up two-story house is outfitted with sliding "isolators," which let it skate over the ground instead of collapsing.

The engineers also used what they call a "unibody" design. With it, every part of the house contributes to its overall strength.
