Iranian women take off veils in Facebook campaign

IRAN (KGO) -- Thousands of women in Iran are joining a new protest campaign on Facebook, posting photos of themselves taking off their veils. In Iran, women are required to wear the hijab.

The Facebook page, Stealthy Freedoms of Iranian Women, has gained more than 160,000 followers since it was created 11 days ago.

Organizers say it promotes freedom for women in Iran.

Iranian officials have denounced the page and accused the organizers of working with Iran's enemies to promote promiscuity.
