Over 750 San Francisco-based McKesson Corporation employees gathered to create Comfort Kits for cancer patients in the Bay Area on Monday morning.

The San Francisco-based drug distributor and health IT giant hosted its annual Community Days volunteer event at the Westin Hotel on Market Street.

Volunteers filled each Comfort Kit with items cancer patients request most while going through chemotherapy such as, fuzzy socks, warm blankets and toiletries.

"McKesson's really committed to building healthier communities and we have 12,000 volunteers joining us across the country today and to date, we've delivered more than 28,000 Comfort Kits to cancer patients in need," McKesson Foundation President Christine Lopez said.

Local organizations like Family House, Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and San Francisco General Hospital Foundation help hand deliver the Comfort Kits to patients throughout the city.
