Study: Popular kids get bullied too

New research suggests so-called nerds and non-conformists aren't the only ones being bullied in school these days. It happens to popular kids, too.

Researchers tracked some 4,000 high school students for a year. Students were asked to name peers who had been mean to them as well as students they had picked on.

They found that as kids climbed the social ladder, their chances of getting bullied increased by 25 percent.

The study found that only the top 4 percent of the social elite weren't likely to be bullied, nor were they likely to bully others.

The study is in the American Sociological Review.
