Viral 'George Washington' fan invited to GW University basketball

When 4-year-old Ava found out she couldn't meet our country's first president, her tearful plea was viewed more than 300,000 times on YouTube. Many reasonably assumed that poor Ava would never see her wish come true.

As it turns out, George Washington is proving that wrong.

George Washington University released the above video on Monday telling Ava she would get VIP treatment if she made it to a basketball game this season. Most importantly, she would get to meet George Washington after all!

"Wow! What a sweet and generous offer from GWU," Ava's mom said after hearing the news. She said they hope to be able to attend a game during the season, which starts Nov. 8. GW University is in Washington D.C., just outside of Ava's home state of Virginia.

And what did Ava think of the offer?

Her mom said she was excited to see her name in the video, but she's a little nervous about the meeting.

"Like most 4 year olds, she is a little frightened by mascots," she said, "but we hope that she will overcome this by the time she gets to meet GW himself!"
