49ers release videos to ease traffic at new stadium
Forget paper maps, 49er fans will be able to view instructional videos of how to get to and move around the new Levi's Stadium.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- Forget paper maps, 49er fans will be able to view instructional videos of how to get to and move around the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

With no traffic, it can take less than five minutes to get from Highway 101 to the team's new stadium. But on game days, it will obviously take longer. That's why the 49ers are hoping you'll watch their new videos.

Several parking lots are available around the stadium. And if you pre-purchased parking, you can find out which lot you're in and how to get there the fastest.

You'll either want to take 237 or 101 to get there. The route instructions are also on the back of the parking passes.

The videos come after a rough start for one of the first big events at the stadium.

Season ticket holders were invited for the ribbon cutting ceremony on July 17. About 30,000 people showed up. And that's just a fraction of what the big crowds will be like on game day because the stadium seats about 70,000.

Many waited in hour long traffic jams trying to get to the event.

The team said it didn't activate its traffic plan that day.

Our media partner the San Jose Mercury News says the problem was compounded by rush hour traffic, which is something that won't be present on Sundays. They expect things to be much better for game days, with all the parking lots available to fans.

The first sporting event at the stadium will be a San Jose Earthquakes game on Aug. 2.

The first 49ers preseason football game is Aug. 17.
