Baylor freshman WR Tren'Davian Dickson requests transfer

Baylor freshman wide receiver Tren'Davian Dickson has requested his release from the program and intends to transfer, he confirmed to ESPN.

Dickson, an ESPN 300 recruit in the 2016 class, enrolled at Baylor in January and went through spring practice with the team. He met with the staff last week to request his release and has since returned home to Navasota, Texas.

Because Dickson is already on the team, he'll have to sit out the 2016 season.

Baylor has the right to restrict his transfer options and has granted Dickson permission to speak with any school in the country except for Big 12 schools..

Dickson's plan to transfer was first reported by 247Sports.

Dickson was part of a top-20 recruiting class that is splintering after the school's sexual assault scandal cost coach Art Briles his job. ESPN has confirmed six signees are requesting their release from their national letters of intent.

Top-rated signee Devin Duvernay has already backed out and is free to sign elsewhere after Baylor discovered his NLI was invalid. He's considering enrolling at TCU, Texas or Oklahoma.

Baylor confirmed Tuesday that two other members of the class, offensive lineman B.J. Autry and defensive lineman Jeremy Faulk, have also left the program.

Several members of Baylor's 2016 class who did not enroll have spoken with interim coach Jim Grobe about their release requests. Cornerback Parrish Cobb and running back Kameron Martin were told the staff will not release the freshmen from their NLIs.

Baylor has 30 days to officially inform each recruit whether his request was denied. To gain their releases, Baylor's signees would have to file an appeal with the NLI Policy and Review Committee. That appeals process typically takes four to six weeks.
