Earthquakes' Harold Cummings sidelined 4-6 months by broken leg

San Jose Earthquakes defender Harold Cummings will be sidelined for the next four to six months after having surgery to repair a broken leg.

The 25-year-old suffered a fractured fibula as well as a high-ankle sprain in an unspecified accident at home,the MLS club announced.

Cummings only signed with San Jose from Costa Rica giants Alajuelense in January, but had yet to play after recovering from sports hernia surgery.

Florian Jungwirth, who joined the Quakes in February, has been starting inCummings' absence.

The injury is also a blow for Panama's hopes to qualify for the World Cup, as Cummings has earned 50 caps for his country.
