OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A new basketball court that's being dedicated to one of the first Europeans to make it big in the NBA has opened in Oakland.

The court at San Antonio Park is now named after former Warriors star Sarunas Marciulionis.

The court is one of dozens in the Bay Area that the Warriors helped restore, along with PG&E and the Good Tidings Foundation.

Marciulionis is humbled by the honor. He became the first Soviet player to play in the NBA back in 1989 and retired in 1997.

He's set to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend.
